What will my role on camp involve?
There are many different roles for volunteers on camp. You can read a brief description of each role, and your camp director will provide you with more specific information about your specific responsibilities.
What is my duty of care while on camp?
As a leader, your duty of care is to ensure that reasonable care is taken of campers. This involves putting children and their safety first, intervening promptly in potentially dangerous situations, informing the camp director of any incidents and assisting any injured camper immediately. In addition to completion of the CRU Camps Child Protection and Safety Training Test, the camp director will outline your responsibilities in more detail.
Will I have any responsibilities once camp is over?
Yes. We see follow-up of campers as a really important aspect of camp! After camp, the leadership team will usually meet to ‘debrief’ and discuss the next steps. This is a time when leaders can express their joys and reflections from camp and spend time praying for the campers. Leaders are also asked to complete survey information so that we can keep improving the CRU Camp experience.
