  • CRU Camps is a division of Crusaders – a non-profit, Christian youth organisation established in 1930.
  • CRU Camps is the largest provider of Christian holiday camps in NSW welcoming over 4000 campers each year onto over 75 camps.

Exceptional leaders

  • Our dedicated team of Christian young adults look after campers 24 hours a day.
  • Each leader is trained in child protection procedures, reference checked and screened in accordance with government child protection legislation. See our Child Protection Statement for more information.
  • Our leaders’ love for God, young people and life make them superb role models to your children.
  • Our exemplary standard of care is evidenced by a ratio of at least 1 leader to every 5 campers.
  • Each team has at least two leaders with Senior First Aid qualifications.
  • A camp ‘Mum’ and ‘Dad’ attend primary age camps to care for the emotional needs of young campers.

Encouraging environment

  • Our nurturing camp environment is one where your child will be accepted, cared for and encouraged.
  • Through the activities, leaders help your child to develop teamwork, co-operation and communication skills whilst also challenging them to step out of their comfort zone to achieve new things.
  • Meals, discussion times and the encouraging camp environment help campers to come away with confidence, a strong character and improved social skills.
  • Our camps are tobacco, alcohol and drug free environments.

Great value

  • At all times we work hard to offer great quality programs at the lowest possible price.
  • Residential camp fees start at around $70 a day, which includes all activities, meals, accommodation, 24 hour supervision and transport (unless specified).
  • Day camp fees start at around $50 a day, which includes all activities, meals, supervision and transport (unless specified).
  • A camper Sponsorship Fund exists to help all families send their children on camp.

Please contact the CRU Camps team on [email protected] to check the latest booking terms and conditions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Will I receive a refund if I have to cancel my child’s registration?
For our cancellation policies, please view our Booking Terms and Conditions.

My child can no longer come to camp, can a friend/sibling take their place?
Unfortunately this is not possible. If you need to cancel your child’s spot, we must offer their place to the next camper in line on the waiting list. If there is no waiting list and there is an open spot on camp, the friend or sibling can register (however there will still be a cancellation fee charged for your child).

Can I transfer my child from one camp to another?
Yes, subject to our Booking Terms and Conditions. A $50 transfer fee applies. Transfers are not permitted within 14 days of the original camp start date, and must be within the same camp season.

Our questions section is constantly updated to answer the common questions we receive. Please check through all the questions categories to find the answer you are looking for. If your question is not answered here, please call us on (02) 9874 8933 (option 1) or email us.

Why do camp prices vary?
Each camp program is unique and as a result prices vary according to the activities included, duration, numbers of participants, accommodation type and associated costs. Be assured that at all times we seek to provide you with the best quality programs at the lowest possible prices.

Does a childcare cash rebate apply?
Child Care Cash Rebates no longer apply to our camps due to changes in qualifying factors set by the government.

Is financial assistance available?
We don’t want any child to miss out on the CRU Camp experience. We can arrange Payment Plans to allow families to pay camp fees in installments. Plus a Sponsorship Fund exists to help families who are struggling financially to send their children to camp. You can apply for sponsorship online or by contacting our Bookings Coordinator on 02 9874 8933 (option 1).

To give other children the opportunity to experience a CRU Camp, please consider donating to our Sponsorship Fund during the registration process or click here to donate now.

Is it safe to pay online?
CRU Camps uses industry standard encryption security technology for online transactions. As a result, our systems do not store your credit card information. For more information, please view our Security Statement.

What online payment methods are available?
Our online registration process only allows payment via credit card. For all other methods of payment you will need to register over the phone or send in a registration form via mail or fax.

Can I pay the balance for a camp online?
You are able to pay either the full amount or a deposit for selected camps online and will be sent a reminder email when the balance of the camp fee is due. You can then log back in to pay the balance.

Can I pay for camp in instalments?
If you need some flexibility in order to pay a camp fee, you may submit a request for a part payment plan at the end of the online registration process. For more information visit our Cost and Sponsorship page or call us on 9874 8933 opt 1.

Our questions section is constantly updated to answer the common questions we receive. Please check through all the questions categories to find the answer you are looking for. If your question is not answered here, please call us on (02) 9874 8933 (option 1) or email us.

What sort of food will my child eat on camp?
We provide plenty of food and a variety of options within each meal to suit different tastes. Breakfast has cereals and hot food courses are normally offered, lunch may be a hot or cold meal, and dinner has a hot main meal and dessert course. Salads and/or vegetables are available at all lunches and dinners. Morning and afternoon tea usually consist of baked snacks with fruit, and supper is provided at each camp’s discretion.

Do you cater for children with special dietary requirements?
Yes, please provide a comprehensive list of dietary requirements when registering your child onto camp. We are able to cater for most children with special dietary requirements, such as vegetarian, gluten-free and lactose intolerance. In certain circumstances, parents may be required to provide special food for their child to bring to camp. Please view our Medical and Dietary Concerns page for details.

Can you take care of my child’s special medical requirements?
Part of the camper registration process is to inform us of any medical conditions or requirements your child might have that could impact their camp. Our First Aid officers are equipped to administer medication as stipulated by you at registration.

How are medical incidents dealt with on camp?
Every CRU Holiday Camp has at least two Senior First Aid qualified leaders who will deliver first-response treatment in the event of an injury or illness. A decision is then made about whether further medical attention is needed and if the camper needs to visit a medical centre or hospital. The Camp Director will contact you as soon as possible if outside medical attention is needed for your child and if any major incidents occur involving your child.

Will I be contacted if something goes wrong with my child whilst on camp?
The vast majority of campers have a great time on CRU Camps, although they may go through some highs and lows along the way – it’s all part of the learning experience. CRU Camp leaders will deal with any minor incidents/concerns in the first instance, and these can usually be resolved within the camp environment. The Camp Director will contact you if there is a significant health issue or medical incident, or if there is an emotional issue which cannot be resolved on camp. Remember – over 95% of campers indicate on surveys that they love camp so much that they want to go on another one!

Are the leaders trained to handle emergencies?
Every CRU Camp has at least two qualified Senior First Aid officers on team to offer immediate assistance where necessary. The Director of each camp has medical and emergency contact information if required. CRU Camps also have a doctor on call throughout each holiday season to offer advice if needed. CRU Camps staff monitor emergency warnings and take precautions in the case of hazardous events.

What if I don’t know the date of my child’s last tetanus booster?
If you can’t recall the date of your child’s last tetanus booster, please indicate this on the registration form. If your child requires a tetanus injection during camp, the Camp Director will contact you. If the date of your child’s last booster is unknown, the hospital or medical centre practitioners may give the injection as a precaution.

Our questions section is constantly updated to answer the common questions we receive. Please check through all the questions categories to find the answer you are looking for. If your question is not answered here, please call us on (02) 9874 8933 (option 1) or email us.

What if my child doesn’t know anyone else on camp?
Most CRU Camps have a few campers who arrive not knowing anyone else. Our leaders are trained to watch, care for and help campers to feel part of the group. Camper surveys consistently show that over 95% of campers felt well cared for, made new friends and want to come on camp again.

Who looks after the campers?
A team of young, committed, Christian leaders look after the campers throughout camp. All leaders are reference checked, trained in child protection procedures and have completed government child protection requirements. In addition to a Camp Director and young adult volunteer leaders, primary camps also have a ‘camp mum and dad’ to support young campers who may experience homesickness.

How many leaders are on each camp?
All CRU Camps have an unequalled standard of care with at least 1 leader for every 5 campers, meaning that your child will be well looked after.

What does camp accommodation look like?
Students are normally accommodated in cabins, usually with bunk beds. Girls sleep in separate rooms to boys and there are leaders in or near each cabin block to ensure appropriate behaviour. Our camps take place at a variety of locations, but as a general guide we use sites with 6-10 beds in each room.

Can my child be in the same room as his/her friend?
Absolutely! During the registration process, you can nominate the name/s of your child’s friend (of the same gender) as a preferred room mate. Camp directors use these preferences to guide their cabin allocations. However if multiple campers are listed as room mate preferences, it may be difficult for directors to ensure every request. Please be aware that during camp, the director reserves the right to separate campers for disciplinary reasons. Even if your child’s friend has not yet registered, you can nominate them as a room mate, however this does not guarantee their place on camp.

What does my child need to take on camp?
Two weeks before camp you will receive a ‘camp information pack’ by email with all the details of what your child will need to bring to camp. This information will also be available for download on the camps unique page on our website. In the meantime you can also see our Typical Pack List.

What is the daily program for camp?
With over sixty CRU Camps featuring hundreds of exciting activities, each camp’s daily program is different. However, for a general idea, check out our Typical Camp Day.

What is the Christian component of the camps?
Each day of camp features a short Bible talk and small group discussion time for campers to talk about issues in greater depth and ask questions about God, life and everything.

Are the camp activities safe?
CRU Camps have an excellent safety record, and we work hard to keep this high standard. Of course there is an element of risk to everything we do in life and camp activities are no exception. CRU Camps minimise risk in a variety of ways including risk assessments, having trained activity guides and performing regular equipment checks to maintain industry safety standards.

How can campers be contacted?
We understand it can feel strange to be out of contact with your child for a few days, especially if this CRU Camp is their first time away from home. Campers who wish to contact their parents may ask the director for permission to do so. We recommended that campers do not bring their mobile phones as they can be intrusive, detrimental to building camp community and may exacerbate homesickness. Parents are given the contact details for the Camp Director and we recommend that, if needed, you contact your child via this method. Your child’s well being is our first priority. If they are finding camp difficult, or are not well, we will contact you at the first opportunity.

Will there be any other camps onsite while my child is on a CRU Camp?
Our Lake Mac and Galston campsites are equipped for multiple groups. When more than one group is onsite, we work hard to make sure each group has a unique sense of its own space. Activities are run separately and meals are provided either in different sections of the dining room or at different times. Groups are accommodated in their own section of cabins, with as much space between them as possible.

Our volunteer leaders supervise campers closely and keep groups in their own space. Campers are usually unaware of other groups or only see them in passing.

Do I need to leave a deposit to put my child on a waiting list for camp?
No. If a place for your child becomes available, we will contact you and request the full camp fee to secure the booking.

If my child is on a waiting list and places on that camp become available, what do I do?
We will contact you and give you a set time period to register. After this time the place will be offered to the next person on the waiting list. If you have not been contacted, then places have not become available.

Can I place my child on more than one waiting list?
Yes, you are welcome to put your child on as many waiting lists as you like. If places become available on any of those camps, we will contact you as outlined above.

If I place my child on a waiting list for one camp and also register them for a second camp, can I switch to the first camp if places become available?
Yes, provided the transfer occurs within our transfer/cancellation policy as outlined in our booking terms and conditions. A transfer fee will apply, and transfers are not permitted once the 50% or full cancellation fee period is in place.

If my child is on a waiting list and their friend is already confirmed for that camp, will this help my child to get onto that camp?
No, your child will remain on the waiting list until places become available. These places will be offered in the order of registrations received.

How do I find out what position my child is in on the waiting list?
Please contact us if you require this information. If further places become available for a camp and your child is next on the list, we will contact you as soon as possible.

CRU Camps powerfully impact and transform young lives.

We encourage you to help us grow by supporting financially, prayerfully and actively on camps or in the CRU Camps office!

Donate

Many parents desperately want their kids to experience the love, acceptance and life-transforming faith found on CRU Camps, but simply can’t afford it. You can give children the chance to experience the joys of camp while struggling parents get a vital break by giving to the CRU Adopt-a-Camper Fund or other general ministry funds.

You can choose to give to:

  • CRU Camps general fund – we’ll allocate your gift where most needed to enable over 3,000 kids to experience camps each year.
  • Sponsor/Adopt a CRU camper – help cover the cost of camp for a camper, who would not otherwise be able to go on camp.

Give now on our secure website

Adopt-a-Camper donations are not tax deductible. Other tax deductible gift options are available here.
