Kids Clubs, Youth Groups & Churches

Kids clubs and youth groups meet together regularly (often on a Sunday morning or Friday night) to learn about God, play games and encourage each other. There are heaps of great groups across NSW, see our list of churches that run them to find one near you.

School Christian Groups

Heaps of schools have Christian groups meeting at lunchtimes to learn about God and have fun together. Crusaders run CRU Groups in Private & Christian schools. Find your school CRU Group. If you go to a Public school you can find details of Christian groups here.

University Christian Groups

Many CRU leaders head to Christian groups at their uni’s including AFES and Student Life. They’d love you to join them and check it out.

Can I purchase merchandise online?
You can purchase merchandise during the registration process and it will be delivered to your child at their camp. If you selected “deliver to camp” and the camp starts within 5 days it may not be possible to get the item to camp and we may need to post the item. Will will inform you if this is the case.
Alternatively you can visit our office or Merchandise page and make a purchase which will be posted to you.

What is the sizing system for clothing?
Our clothing is sourced from a range of suppliers, so sizing varies for each item. Please view our sizing guide when ordering CRU merchandise.

Our questions section is constantly updated to answer the common questions we receive. Please check through all the questions categories to find the answer you are looking for. If your question is not answered here, please call us on (02) 9874 8933 (option 1) or email us.

How far in advance do registrations open?
We open camp registrations online two school terms in advance (e.g. summer camp registrations open at the start of term 3). You can also sign up for email updates, or ‘like’ us on Facebook to ensure you don’t miss out on what’s happening at CRU Camps.

How do I find out how many places are left on a particular camp?
Use the ‘Find a camp’ search to find a specific camp and the number of spots left will be listed. For gender specific availability, click through to the camp listing page. This information is updated in real time, and bookings are only confirmed once payment has been received. You may add your child to a waiting list if the camp is full.

Who can fill out an online registration form?
Parents, legal guardians or caseworkers may complete the full registration process for their child or children. Campers aged 18 or older may complete the registration themselves. Friends (e.g. the parent of another camper) or carers without legal guardianship may partially complete a registration (with or without payment) which the guardian must complete to authorise the booking, provide personal medical information and secure the place.

How do I register my child’s friends onto camp using the online registration system?
Simply attempt a registration online by clicking ‘register’, select your relationship to that child and complete the required questions with or without payment. The child’s parent or guardian will be emailed a link to complete the registration and secure the booking. Placing the name of your child’s friend as a room-mate preference does not secure a place for that child.

How do I register more than one child onto the same camp in an online registration?
Simply complete the first registration and then click ‘add another camp/camper’, search for the same camp and complete the second child’s details, then ‘make payment’ to secure the places.

How do I register numerous children onto different camps in a single online registration?
Simply complete the first registration and then click ‘add another camp/camper’, search for your desired camp and complete the child’s details, then ‘make payment’ to secure the places.

I don’t wish to register over the internet. How can I register my child for camp?
If you are unable to use the online registration process, you can register your child for a camp by posting, faxing or emailing this registration form to the CRU Camps office (click to download PDF). Alternatively you can register over the phone by calling the CRU Camps Office on 02 9874 8933 (option 1). Please note that a $10 administration fee applies to all offline bookings.

What if I don’t have a Medicare Card for online registrations?
You will need to have either a Medicare Card OR a health/travel insurance membership number to register for camp. Please contact us if this is a problem.

Can attending a CRU Camp count towards my Duke of Edinburgh award?
Being a camper or leader on a CRU Camp is a great way to achieve the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award Residential Project requirement. It’s always best to check with your supervisor to make sure the particular camp style and length meets the exact requirements. You’ll also need to talk to the camp director at camp in order to have your record book completed.

Our questions section is regularly updated to answer the common questions we receive. If your question is not answered here, please call us on (02) 9874 8933 (option 1) or email us.

What qualifications/training do I need to have in order to volunteer?
Check out the Expressions of Interest page for general volunteer requirements. In addition to mandatory child protection and safety training, specific training requirements vary depending on your role on camp.

Will I receive any training as a leader?
Yes, in addition to the required child protection training, CRU Camps runs a number of training events each year including day events, weekends, camps for junior leaders, first aid and bronze medallion courses. Further leadership training is provided by the director of each camp and CRU staff to supplement your CRU Camp volunteer manual.

What will my role on camp involve?
There are many different roles for volunteers on camp. You can read a brief description of each role, and your camp director will provide you with more specific information about your specific responsibilities.

What is my duty of care while on camp?
As a leader, your duty of care is to ensure that reasonable care is taken of campers. This involves putting children and their safety first, intervening promptly in potentially dangerous situations, informing the camp director of any incidents and assisting any injured camper immediately. In addition to completion of the CRU Camps Child Protection and Safety Training Test, the camp director will outline your responsibilities in more detail.

Will I have any responsibilities once camp is over?
Yes. We see follow-up of campers as a really important aspect of camp! After camp, the leadership team will usually meet to ‘debrief’ and discuss the next steps. This is a time when leaders can express their joys and reflections from camp and spend time praying for the campers. Leaders are also asked to complete survey information so that we can keep improving the CRU Camp experience.

Do I need to pay to lead on a CRU Camp?
Yes, to help keep fees as low as possible for campers and to make sure we have great leader to camper ratios, we ask leaders to contribute to their food and accommodation costs. The leader’s fee is usually about 40% of what it costs for CRU Camps to actually send a leader on camp. See an overview of pricing for volunteers.

Is there financial assistance available for the payment of camp fees?
Yes. We don’t want anyone to miss out on the opportunity to volunteer on camps due to cost. As many volunteers are university students without part-time work, we know that sometimes it’s a struggle to pay camp fees. Our Sponsorship Fund exists to provide financial assistance if needed. Please submit this request well before camp by checking the fee assistance box towards the end of the registration process, filling in this sponsorship form OR a part payment request in advance or contacting the CRU Camps office on 02 9874 8933 (option 1).

Can I pay online?
Yes! You can pay online via credit card after completing the online registration form. If you require a different payment method please check the fee assistance box in the registration form.
